About:
I'm Carl Smith, a DVSA-Approved Driving Instructor with over 10 years experience. Over a decade I have helped learner drivers and driving instructors gain confidence and independence on the road.
I have developed a strong passion for and unwavering commitment to promoting road safety. Throughout my previous career as a police officer, I witnessed first-hand the devastating impact that road traffic collisions can have on individuals, families, and communities. These experiences have reinforced my determination to educate, influence, and support safer road use by sharing my extensive knowledge and experience with learner drivers and aspiring driving instructors.
I am neurodivergence-experienced both personally and professionally, with lived understanding as well as practical expertise. I have successfully supported learner drivers with Autism, Dyspraxia, ADHD, and Dyslexia, helping them build confidence, develop skills, and achieve their driving goals in a supportive and inclusive way.
With a proven high success rate, focused on building confidence behind the wheel, developing essential road skills, and creating an inclusive, supportive learning environment that allows you to learn at your own pace.
With a client-centred approach, lessons are tailored to you — your needs, your comfort level, and your goals, understanding that everyone learns differently and deserves a driving environment that feels safe and empowering.
